Community Christmas Dinner

Don't Spend Christmas Alone! On Monday, December 25 from noon to 2:00 p.m., there will be a Christmas Dinner welcoming all, sponsored by Wallingford Community Dinners and the First Congregational Church. Turkey with all the fixings will be served in Congregational Hall, there will be music, laughter and craft activities. Volunteers and donations welcome. [ more ]


Thanks for your Generosity!

Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt -- Thanks to your generosity, our Youth Groups were able to collect a bountiful supply of food items--enough that members of the Board of Community and World Service were able to assemble 60 bags of food to distribute to families in need. [ more ]


Season of Gratitude

November was our Season of Gratitude and Generosity!  During the month of November, we paid closer attention to all of our blessings and celebrating Gratitude and Living Generously. [ more ]


Decorating our Christmas Tree

It has become a tradition at our church that a group from our Men's Ministry select and cut down a Christmas tree to grace our Sanctuary during the Advent and Christmas season.  Other folks then join in and decorate it!  [ more ]


Wallingford Workcamp Team 2018

The Wallingford Workcamp Team 2018 project is well underway and gathering momentum, but still needs your help! Our church, in partnership with the non-profit Group Mission Trips, will be hosting a work camp here in town from July 8-14, 2018. [ more ]


Christmas Poinsettia Order Form

Once again you have the opportunity to purchase poinsettias to decorate our Sanctuary this Christmas season.  The Flower Committee is offering poinsettias for $10.00 per six-inch pot.  You may purchase plants to take home following the Christmas Eve services or to be delivered to members of the congregation who are home-bound or convalescing.  You may purchase plants in memory of or in honor of loved ones.  Please complete the form and return it to the church office or place in the collection plate by December 3, 2017. Pumpkin Night--All Hallows Eve

October 31, 2017 -- Pumpkin Night--All Hallows Eve was a spectacular and spooktactular night at First ChurchA creative group of people carved pumpkins, which were lit and placed on the front steps of the church.  At 7:30 p.m., Kyle Brazauski and Jeanette Gross offered the "Dracula Suite"--a concert of organ and piano music--set in the spookily decorated sanctuary.   [ more ]


Exciting Progress on our New Heating System

After countless hours of research and consideration, the Board of Trustees has approved a $386,075 contract with CT HVAC, Inc. to replace our heating system. After adding 20% for unexpected occurrences and cosmetic repairs once the job is completed, the total estimated cost for the project is $463,290.  The new heating system is currently being installed, and we are making great progress.  As of November 12, we have heat in the Sanctuary!  [ more ]


Books and Beyond 2017-2018

Books and Beyond, our monthly book club group, will begin our discussions on Tuesday, September 26, and meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month through May, not including December.  Anyone interested in books and great conversation is welcome to join us!  [ more ]


Holy Joe's Cafe' Launches its own Non-profit

September 1, 2017 - At the August 28, 2017 Church Council Meeting, Holy Joe's Cafe', which has been a ministry of our church since 2006, was voted to become it's own separate 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Holy Joe's Cafe', Inc.  The paperwork has been completed, their Board formed, their approval from the State of Connecticut finalized, and their federal 501(c)3 status pending, meaning that now donations to Holy Joe's can go directly to the new entity.  The mission of providing coffee, tea and hot chocolate to military chaplains and the troops continues!
