Choirs and Music for Children

Any children in pre-K through Grade 8 are welcome to join one of our choirs or musical programs.  No experience is needed. 

This is a great way for kids to learn about music and get comfortable performing!  And it's fun!

Cherub Choir (Grades Pre-K-2)

Our youngest children can participate in the music life of our church in the Cherub Choir.

This fall, we will be specifically working on the short musical "Calling All Angels" by Helen Kemp to be presented at the Family Christmas Eve worship service on December 24 at 10:00 a.m.

Rehearsal takes place in the Sanctuary following worship on Sundays at 11:20-11:50 a.m. on the following schedule:

September 17 and 24

October 8 and 22

November 5 and 19

December 3 and 17

Saturday, December 23 9:30-11:00 a.m.

Children's Choir (Grades 3, 4 and 5)

In addition to singing in church once a month, this choir will work with boomwackers and handchimes. They will also be working on a musical.

Rehearsal takes place in the Choir Room on Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m., starting on Wednesday, September 13.

Youth Choir (Grades 6, 7 and 8)

The rehearsal time for the Youth Choir is Mondays from 5-6 p.m., in the Choir Room starting on Monday, September 11.

Puppet Ministry--A new program for children in Grades 5-8

We are excited to bring to our young people a new puppetry ministry. We will start out making shadow puppets, then hand puppets and finally marionettes.

A field trip to the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will be arranged once their schedule is published.

Meeting times will be Saturday mornings from 9:30 to noon once a month on Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Jan. 13, Feb. 10 and March 10.

Save the Date for a Major Musical on April 13, 14 and 15, 2018

A committee is reviewing possibilities for a major musical to be held in April, which will soon be announced.

It will be an intergenerational event, and all will be welcome to audition. Auditions will be in January, with rehearsals starting soon after.
